I am a Virgo and I will be honest, I go on cleaning binges like no ones business. Sponges drive me nuts because they smell horrible and get moldy after a while. So my other choice was paper towel, which is not only not tough enough, but seems so wasteful. I was pretty excited to find the SKOY Cloth!
The SKOY cloth is made in Germany is so fabulous. The SKOY Cloth is absorbent and 100% biodegradable. The cloths can be used in so many ways. They can be used in place of your sponge, wash cloth or paper towels. They are made from a natural cotton and wood-based cellulose pulp. SKOY cloth is a chlorine-free product using water-based colors and inks. After an independent composting test, SKOY cloth broke down completely within 5 weeks. The SKOY cloth can last months and it is equivalent to using 15 rolls of paper towels in an average home.
With the high cost of paper towels, as much as $2 per roll, SKOY cloth is the obvious choice for your wallet and the environment. The SKOY cloth has an absorption factor of 15x its own weight. As a result, producing the most superior cloth product available. Imagine using 15 sheets of good-quality paper towels at once… This is how a wet SKOY cloth will feel in your hand.
The SKOY cloth is long-lasting because of the wash ability feature. It dries quickly, so it is not a breeding ground for bacteria. Have you ever used your sponge, then smelled your hand and it reeked of horrible bacteria? That will never happen again if you microwave your SKOY cloth regularly. It is also dishwasher and washer/dryer safe. Cleaning your SKOY cloth will keep it healthy and germ-free. Please see Use & Care for instructions.
Even cooler is that this whole wonderful company was created by two stay-at-home moms looking for a better cloth that was also environmentally friendly to clean with. When they realized 2.5 million tons of paper towels were being put into landfills, they did something about it. One of these brilliant ladies found a simialr cloth in Germany and they both found a way to bring it to the United States. Skoj (pronounced Skoy) is a Swedish word that means: “just for fun”! The SKOY cloths really are fun to use!The factory uses renewable raw materials such as cellulose (derived from wood), and cotton to produce our SKOY cloths. Our factory has invested heavily in developing and implementing an integrated environmental recycling and disposal facility in which the economical use of energy and water is first and foremost. Production by-products are purified and recycled as far as possible within the process. Regeneration baths are returned to production by an evaporation process. Wastewater is treated at the site's biological wastewater purification plants. This environmental concept is at the vanguard of operations-related environmental policy and has resulted in our factory becoming a reference company throughout the industry.
What an amazing company. And what and amazing product. I got mine in the mail and went right to work. My daughter "painted" our cabinets with peanut butter, and one SKOY cleaned the entire kitchen and that included the tough peanut butter. My daughter used a cloth to wipe her whiteboard after coloring. I love that I can just pop these into the wash for more use!
